Employee Benefit Plan (EBP) audits create a unique challenge for the auditor, as the key testing sections are vastly different than a traditional corporate audit. The key functional areas of contributions and distributions comprise a significant portion of the required audit testing. This course will take a deeper dive into the testing strategies, the overall audit plan, and provide guidance for properly documenting your audit files.
Employee Benefit Plan (EBP) audits require the consideration and documentation of internal controls. Given the unique nature of an employee benefit plan, properly assessing the internal control structure and determining key controls can present a challenge. This course will give you an introduction to the types of internal controls typically seen, best practices for utilizing SOC 1 reports, and guidance for properly documenting your audit files.
Employee benefit plans hold a variety of investments, ranging from simple to complex. Regardless, the auditor is required to gain an understanding of the investments, assess the fair market value classification and disclosure requirements, and potentially perform testing over existence and valuation. This course will give you an introduction to the types of investments typically seen, along with auditing and fair market value techniques you can immediately use in your audits.
